INTRODUCTION ZINCODERM G CREAM is a combination of Clobetasol propionate, Gentamicin and Zinc sulphate which belongs to a group of medicines called Topical Corticosteroids, Aminoglycoside antibiotics and Astringents respectively. ZINCODERM G CREAM is used to treat bacterial skin infections, which include eczema, psoriasis and contact dermatitis. It is also used to treat skin swelling, irritation and redness. Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition generally characterised by symptoms such as dry skin, red rashes and itchy, bumpy skin. Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes a rash with itchy, scaly patches that most commonly occur on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp. Contact dermatitis is a skin condition that occurs due to direct contact with a substance or an allergic reaction to it and is generally characterised by symptoms such as bumps, blisters, dry skin and an itchy rash. ZINCODERM G CREAM is not recommended for use in patients allergic to clobetasol propionate, gentamicin or zinc sulfate. It is also not recommended for use in patients with skin problems such as acne, rosacea (severe flushing of the skin on and around your nose), perioral dermatitis (a spotty red rash around your mouth), itching around the anus and genitals, infected or itchy skin and widespread plaque psoriasis. Before applying ZINCODERM G CREAM, inform your doctor if you have had previous bone symptoms (such as bone pain), a previous allergic reaction with another steroid, broken or damaged skin, a chronic leg ulcer and/or psoriasis. ZINCODERM G CREAM should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women who are breastfeeding.ZINCODERM G CREAM is not recommended for use in children under the age of one year. The most common side effects of using ZINCODERM G CREAM are burning, pain, irritation and/or itching at the application site. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms get worse. USES OF ZINCODERM G CREAM Treats bacterial skin infections which include eczema, psoriasis and contact dermatitis Reduces swelling, irritation and redness of the skin due to certain skin problems HOW ZINCODERM G CREAM WORKS ZINCODERM G CREAM helps to treat bacterial skin infections and reduce swelling, irritation & redness of the skin, where clobetasol propionate prevents inflammation by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen & itchy, gentamicin causes bacterial cell destruction by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and zinc sulphate helps shielding the skin from bacterial invasion and locking in hydration and moisture by forming a barrier on the applied skin site. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Always apply ZINCODERM G CREAM, as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. On the affected area, apply a thin layer of this medicine. Treated areas on the face need not be covered with a plaster or bandage. Do not apply ZINCODERM G CREAM on your face beyond 5 days. Avoid applying ZINCODERM G CREAM around your eyes, including eyelids. SIDE EFFECTS OF ZINCODERM G CREAM COMMON Burning, pain, irritation or itching sensation at the site of application UNCOMMON Signs of stretch marks such as skin thinning Noticeable blood vessels under the surface of the skin RARE Stop applying ZINCODERM G CREAM and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects: Signs of allergic reaction and infection such as generalized rash, swollen skin, Psoriasis (itchy skin) with raised bumps filled with pus under the skin Irritation Sensitization/superinfection HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS Itchy Skin: Avoid scratching your skin. Cool your skin by holding onto a damp towel. Try to have cool or warm baths. Wear loose clothing and do not wear tight clothes. Try to avoid applying perfumed soaps, deodorants or moisturizers and always use unperfumed moisturizers. WARNING & PRECAUTIONS PREGNANCY ZINCODERM G CREAM should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women planning to become pregnant. Consult your doctor before applying for the medicine. BREASTFEEDING ZINCODERM G CREAM should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. It is advised not to be applied on the breast area while feeding the baby. Consult your doctor before applying the medicine. ALLERGY ZINCODERM G CREAM is not recommended for use if you are allergic to clobetasol propionate, gentamicin, zinc sulphate or any other ingredients of this medicine. OTHERS ZINCODERM G CREAM is not recommended for use if you: Have skin problems such as acne (pimples), rosacea (severe flushing of skin on and around your nose), perioral dermatitis (spotty red rash around your mouth), itching around your anus or genitals, infected skin (unless the infection is being treated with an anti-infective medicine at the same time), itchy skin (which is not inflamed), widespread plaque psoriasis (except single lesions) Before applying ZINCODERM G CREAM, inform your doctor if you: Had previous bone symptoms such as bone pain, swelling and tenderness near the affected area, weakened bone Had previously had an allergic reaction to another steroid Are planning to apply the cream under an airtight dressing including a child’s nappy Have broken/damaged skin or within skin folds Have a large surface area to apply the medicine Have psoriasis (itchy skin) Have a chronic leg ulcer Site of the application is facing Use in Pediatrics: ZINCODERM G CREAM is not recommended for use in children (below 1 year). It should be used with caution in children (above 1 year) and adolescents (below 18 years). Consult your doctor before applying ZINCODERM G CREAM. Use in Geriatrics: ZINCODERM G CREAM should be applied with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Consult your doctor before applying ZINCODERM G CREAM. INTERACTIONS A. Drug-Drug Interactions: Before applying ZINCODERM G CREAM, inform your doctor if you are applying any of the following medicine: Ritonavir (a medicine used to treat HIV infection) Itraconazole (a medicine used to treat fungal infections) Overdosage: If you or anyone else applies too much of ZINCODERM G CREAM or accidentally swallows it, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
